In ancient China this type of blade was also called “hua tie” (\u82b1\u94c1) or “wen tie” (\u6587\u94c1), flower iron or wave mark iron. During the Song Dynasty Song Shen Kuo’s (\u5b8b\u6c88\u62ec) book Meng Xi Bi Tan (\u68a6\u6eaa\u7b14\u8c08) also says the \u201cfish scale” (\u9c7c\u80a0\u5251) and the \u201credwood mark” (\u677e\u6587\u5251) swords are all made by bai lian hua wen gang.\u201d<\/p>\n

To create the pattern on the blade takes a high level of skill and technique. The master sword smith works with great attention to craft each sword.
